ABSTRACT

During the COVID-19 pandemic, public administrations had to adapt in an unplanned way to remote work as a strategy to continue operating. Teleworking was an institutional adaptation that would not have been possible without the previous existence of certain technologies, such as teleconferencing, which played a major role in its implementation. In the Argentine case, the national government implemented remote work from March 2020 until September 2021. This article aims to analyze the degree of institutionalization of videoconferencing. To this end, qualitative-interpretative research was carried out, which, based on in-depth interviews with key informants, analyzes the impact and relevance teleconferencing had in public organizations of the Argentine public administration during the period when remote work was implemented. © 2022 Universidad De Valparaiso. ABSTRACT

Sentiment analysis has gained much attention from both academics and industry in the last years. The increasing availability of data on the opinion of users in social platforms such as Twitter, Facebook and others have enabled the development of artificial intelligence to uncover hidden knowledge in social media and perform strategical business decisions. In this way, due to the impact on business strategic decisions, the research advancements in the field of sentiment analysis has quickly grown, and consequently 5293 documents have been published in the last five years, making an impossible task to stay up to date on these advancements. Therefore, given the implications of the new techniques and approaches in the field, in this contribution, we performed a science mapping analysis to uncover the conceptual structure of the area, showing the noteworthy techniques and detecting the possible applications of them. Results show how the sentiment analysis research field paid great attention to topics related to the pandemic (COVID-19, vaccinations) and mental health. Also, advanced artificial techniques such as deep-learning and transfer learning have been widely used in the last years.

ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT

This work aims to identify the actions that the 50 most important companies in Mexico have implemented to face the COVID-19 pandemic, for which a content analysis was used that will help us to identify ideas expressed in written information structures. It was possible to identify that some of the actions most assisted by companies to comply with the confinement and social distancing measures that the Mexican government established are temporary branch closures, reduction of employees, establishing new media and sales channels, implementation of protocols hygiene, remote work from home, as well as financial and in-kind donations, with social actions being the most implemented, representing 35.19%, and sectors such as Holding, Food and financial services were the ones with the most actions. In the end, these actions have a negative economic impact, since the country’s Gross Domestic Product for the year 2020 decreased by 8.3% in relation to the previous year. © 2021, Universidad del Zulia. ABSTRACT

The new COVID-19 context has transported work to a domestic setting. These new locations, heterotopic, do not always adequately respond to user needs. This paper explores the relationship between the domestic built environment and certain elements that shape it, the perception, emotional state and productivity of the users. A pilot case study was carried out with 11 volunteers who evaluated their home offices for seven work days using physical environment tools, two tests-fixed data and daily evaluation-. Also, environmental parameters of the territory were monitored. Among the main findings, we observed that the perception of size does not relate to actual size;a balcony is associated with happiness and calm. We have verified how biophilic elements promote well-being. Happiness and calm are related to hight and low levels of lux. There is a tendency of happiness associated with collaborative tasks, and calm with individual ones. This article opens up a path for exploratory research on resilient situations in which physical barriers force people to seek creative solutions and offers tools to empower users. Current trends in data-driven design and teleworking support research proposals like this one, with a focus on well-being, productivity. © 2020 Universidade do Vale do Rio dos Sinos. ABSTRACT

Purpose: Latin America has not been exempted from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Hence, this study aims to identify the actions of 50 main multilatinas to face the pandemic. Design/methodology/approach: A qualitative content analysis was conducted on newspapers published in Latin America and corporate websites from March 2020 to April 2020, during which the multilatinas took their first actions toward the pandemic. Findings: Results identified 106 actions taken by multilatinas in social, operational, philanthropic and financial areas. This paper analyzes the results, discuss the implications for business theories and develops three theoretical propositions. Practical implications: First, this study can serve as a reference for business decision-makers as it offers guidance in taking actions during a pandemic. Second, it highlights the importance of the speed of responses to unforeseen challenges. The study recommends that business managers include in their contingency plans procedures for addressing unforeseen situations, such as the pandemic, with a focus on increasing their response capacity. Originality/value: The importance of this study lies in understanding multinational enterprises’ (MNEs) initial actions taken during unexpected disasters and rare events. This study fills two important gaps in the business literature that have not been addressed in the Latin American context, namely, the actions taken by MNEs facing a public health disaster and how MNEs cope with disastrous and rare events. © 2021, Emerald Publishing Limited.

ABSTRACT

SESSION TITLE: Medical Student/Resident Chest Infections Posters SESSION TYPE: Med Student/Res Case Rep Postr PRESENTED ON: October 18-21, 2020 INTRODUCTION: There has been a global impact by the virus named severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and the relevant disease called coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) that has affected thousands of lives.(1),(2) This case report highlights the uncommon presentation of a patient who tested positive for COVID-19. Around this time, our hospital's incidence of SARS-CoV-2 was 1 positive test result through our drive-through process.(3) CASE PRESENTATION: We present a case of a 49 year old male with no known medical history, other than obesity, who was found to have hypertension and diabetes based on a hemoglobin A1c drawn while hospitalized. The patient presented with worsening left sided chest pain at rest of about 10 days duration, slight bilateral frontal headache relieved by Tylenol, and occasional wheezing relieved by an inhaler. He denied dyspnea, cough, fevers, chills, recent travels or sick contacts. On physical examination, patient's lungs were clear with no wheezing appreciated. The EKG showed no acute findings, however, he did have positive high sensitivity troponins. His Nt-proBNP was mildly elevated at 494. During his hospitalization, he developed a fever of 100.4 Fahrenheit and several tests, including COVID-19, were sent. Influenza A&B and RSV were negative. He had a leukocyte count of 7,220, 18.7% lymphocytes, troponins of 25, 22, and 25, LDH of 252, CK of 649, and a ferritin level of 435. After there was resolution of symptoms, he was discharged home with instructions on isolation, proper hygiene, and to return if he developed any worsening or new symptoms, such as, chest pain, shortness of breath or unrelenting fevers. He was discharged with a prescription for aspirin 81 mg and was instructed to follow up with his outpatient primary medical team and cardiology team. Eventually, his COVID-19 test results returned positive. After discharge, he received daily follow-up calls from our medical team and COVID-19 isolation at home instructions were reinforced in our calls. DISCUSSION: There have been reports of varying cardiac presentations, such as, those "with cardiac predominant symptoms” and "those who seem to have secondary myocardial injury with globally elevated inflammatory biomarkers".(2) The nuance here was a fairly typical low-risk chest pain patient with uncontrolled hypertension, obesity, normal EKG, admitted for indeterminate high sensitivity troponins, who then spiked a fever raising our suspicion in the midst of the evolving COVID-19 outbreak. CONCLUSIONS: While it is crucial to maintain the common presentations of this disease, such as its affect on the respiratory, hepatic, neurological, and enteric systems presenting as fever, fatigue, dry cough, myalgia and shortness of breath as part of the triage criteria, we also believe it to be equally as important to keep in mind the uncommon presentations such as headache, sputum production, and chest pain.(2) Reference #1: 1.
